Tradition keeps bringing fans back to the Indy 500

For my latest article in Toronto Star Wheels, I had the opportunity to attend this year’s Indianapolis 500 as a guest of Chevrolet. My assignment was to take a closer look at exactly what it is about Indy that draws so many people from all walks of life together to that one special place each May.

The article appeared in print in last Saturday’s edition of Wheels; those in the Toronto area who still have the paper kicking around can find it on the center spread of Wheels on page W12.

There was so much more that made this year’s race weekend at Indianapolis special that I didn’t have an opportunity to address in the article.

‘Tradition’ keeps bringing fans back to the Indy 500

Ask any of the several hundred thousand people who make the annual pilgrimage to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway what drives them to be there year after year, and the answer will be nigh on universal: it’s tradition.
