The 2012 Barber primary and alternate compounds are softer (less durable) than their 2011 counterparts. Both 2012 compounds were tested in November 2011 at Barber on a DW12. The construction has changed very slightly compared to 2011 and has been designed to improve grip. The Firestone rain tire for this weekend is the same rain spec used in the last half of 2011. |

Steph and Paul, love this event summary page. One suggestion, in showing all the practice and qualifying info, instead of times, I think it’s best to use speeds. That will help capture the casual fans IMO better than using time. Just my two cents.

On the speeds versus times front, we have to pick one or the other because of the way T&S outputs the information. On road and street courses the gold standard is times, and that’s how most people will refer to track records, etc. We feel it’s important to offer consistency. When we get to the ovals, you’ll see us flip to speeds, which is the standard measurement across the sport for that style of track. Does that make sense?
