LIVE BLOG: 2014 Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit

8:58 AM ET — Good morning from race day number two at the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit! I arrived on the island about 20 minutes ago and am currently standing in line waiting to take a pace car ride.

And how am I updating the live blog while standing in line near pit lane, you ask? Well, it’s all thanks to Verizon! They’ve loaned us a 4G LTE enabled tablet to use to augment our coverage this season, so I’m now able to update you much more often while I’m on the go. Many thanks to them for helping us and others get more engaging content out there covering the Verizon IndyCar Series and the Mazda Road to Indy.

I said goodbye to my husband and daughter this morning as they’re making the four-hour drive back to Toronto this morning in the hope that they’ll make it back in time for the race start this afternoon at 3:30 — but not before they stop at a playground in Windsor that I can see from here on Belle Isle for one final wave. I’ve greatly enjoyed having them here with me this weekend. May was a very entertaining but very busy month, so some family time was much needed.

The line is just about finished now, so I’m going straight from here to my wave and then to IndyCar qualifying for race 2 at 10 AM. I’ll bring you all with me and keep you updated as I go!
