INDIANAPOLIS (May 2, 2014) – Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing (SFHR) Development driver Kyle O’Gara will race in the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Freedom 100 on Friday, May 23 at the fabled Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
O’Gara, 19, will drive for Fan Force United (FFU) through a partnership with SFHR’s development program and support from Indy Trading Post and RW Motorsports. His car will be the No. 27 SFHRD/RW/Indy Trading Post/FFU entry.
Beech Grove, Indiana, native O’Gara is making his third career Indy Lights appearance. He drove last year in the Freedom 100 and the Lefty’s Kids Club 100 at Auto Club Speedway at Fontana, California, where he placed eighth.
“I am very excited to get behind the wheel of a Lights car for the first time this season,” O’Gara said. “The Freedom 100 is a race that means very much to me, and I am grateful for getting another opportunity to race in it.
“I have to thank everyone at SFHR Development for putting this program together. Without them, none of this would be possible. I also want to thank FFU for their hard work these past few weeks. All of these guys deserve a good month of May.”
FFU and O’Gara worked together in 2012 for a rookie test at Kentucky Speedway. O’Gara will race alongside FFU teammate Scott Anderson.
“All of us at Fan Force United are very excited to have Kyle racing for us at the Freedom 100,” FFU co-owner Tyce Carlson said. “He will be a great teammate to Scott in our No. 24 car, and we look forward to the information they provide together to help us compete against the other multicar teams.
“On a personal note, I have known Kyle’s family for almost 20 years and have watched him race from a very young age in quarter-midgets and karts. It is great to see a young man grow throughout the years in this business and never give up on his goals.”
This is the second year Indy Trading Post has supported O’Gara. ITP is also O’Gara’s sponsor in his full-time RW Motorsports USAC efforts. O’Gara will race in a USAC Silver Crown race May 17 and a USAC Midget race May 24, one day after his 2014 Indy Lights debut in the Freedom 100.
“We are proud to have Indy Trading Post on Kyle’s car for the Freedom 100,” ITP owner Brian Ludlow said. “Kyle is a local Indianapolis guy, too, so it’s great to have two locals going to Indianapolis Motor Speedway together. We look forward to the continued growth of our partnership.”
The Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires field will test Sunday, May 4 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 2.5-mile oval. To keep up with the latest information on the No. 27 SFHRD/RW/Indy Trading Post/FFU entry, follow @SFHRindy and @kyleogara on Twitter and Instagram.
