INDYCAR, the sanctioning body for the IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights, announced today it will not return to Edmonton in 2013.

“When we finalized our schedule for the upcoming 2013 season, it unfortunately did not include Edmonton,” said Randy Bernard, CEO, INDYCAR. “We thank the city of Edmonton and all the fans for their support of the event over the last eight years.”

Bernard added:  “More importantly this has not affected our plans for a minimum of 19 races next season, and we remain optimistic that we will return to having two races in Canada as early as 2014.  We anticipate announcing our full 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series schedule the first week of October.”

Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, the hometown of USAC great Lloyd Ruby, John got a late start into following racing. Even though he he had followed racing from afar for some time prior, John’s first live experience with racing was the 2003 Bombardier 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, where he saw Al Unser Jr. secured his last win by a mere .0812 seconds over Tony Kanaan, . From those innocent beginnings John’s racing passion blossomed to the point that he built and drove his own race car in the 2012 NASA Camaro Mustang Challenge Series, taking Rookie of the Year honors in the Texas region in his Ford Mustang. John has also begun work on a book chronicling the life of late USAC great Lloyd Ruby, which he hopes to have published soon. John holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Midwestern State University and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.
