July 26 Mid-Ohio test open to the public

Fans are invited  to attend free of charge as several IZOD IndyCar Series teams prepare themselves for the Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio on August 3-5 by coming to the track in Lexington, Ohio for a test day on Thursday, July 26.

There are 18 drivers on 11 teams tentatively scheduled to test at the track next Thursday. Among those expected to test include Ohio native Graham Rahal, current points leader Ryan Hunter-Reay, three-time Mid-Ohio winner Scott Dixon and four-time series champion racer Dario Franchitti.

Fans are encouraged to come out and watch their favorite IndyCar drivers test their machines. Seven of the 18 drivers expected to participate are currently in the Top 10 in points, including Ryan Hunter-Reay (current championship leader), Will Power, Scott Dixon (three-time Mid-Ohio winner), James Hinchcliffe (2011 Rookie of the Year), Dario Franchitti (four time series champion), Ryan Briscoe (2008 Mid-Ohio winner) and Oriol Servia.

The Honda Indy 200 Test Day will be open to the public from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Fans wishing to attend the test may enter at Gate 3 and are permitted to watch the action from the Keyhole or the Infield. More event information and an access map will be distributed to fans when they arrive. Fans are also welcome to bring food and/or coolers. The testing will break at noon for one hour. Tickets for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge & The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio on August 3-5 will be available for purchase throughout the day at Gate 2.

The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio is the twelfth stop of the season for the IZOD IndyCar Series. The American Le Mans Series will also be competing in the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge, which is the only time all season that both series will be competing at a permanent road course.

General Admission tickets for The Honda Indy® 200 at Mid-Ohio and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge on August 3-5 start at $80 for the weekend and $50 per race day. General parking is free and children 12 and under are also admitted free. A comprehensive motorsports facility, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course features a permanent road-racing circuit with two primary configurations: a 2.4-mile, 15-turn, and a 2.25- mile, 13-turn circuit. The park-like, 330-acre complex is located in Lexington, Ohio, near Mansfield, 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland. The track has been called the most competitive course in the U.S. and annually hosts a diverse lineup of locally, regionally and nationally sanctioned racing events for amateur, club and professional drivers and riders. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course opened in 1962 and is owned and operated by Green Savoree Mid-Ohio, LLC.
