Among the topics discussed are Steph’s impressions of the general atmosphere of the event compared to recent years, issuance and nonissuance of penalties throughout the race, the emotional outbursts of several drivers postrace, and the raggedness of the double-file start and restarts.

Just a quick comment to say that I have to agree with Paul on the location of where the starts and restarts ought to take place at Toronto and the ability of the drivers to line up 2-wide. It’s true that Turns 8 through 11 are fairly tight and come right after the other, but it’s also true that if the field were to take those corners at, say, 50 MPH instead of the nearly full speed that they seem to take at least Turns 10 and 11 currently, they’d certainly be able to go through all those corners 2-wide. If the drivers were made to line up 2-wide around Turn 8, cruise through those corners, and then the green not come out until the first couple of rows were actually in sight of the flag stand, we’d see a far better spectacle at the start of the race and on subsequent restarts (and, as a sidenote, the cars would arrive at Turn 1 some 30-40 MPH slower than normal, so it would theoretically be easier to jockey and dice through there as well). The thing is that IndyCar just has to make up its mind to enforce such a scenario, which is something that hasn’t happend time and time again all season. Too bad.
That’s all. Great show, guys! Keep up the great work!
