News is starting to leak from Curt Cavin via Twitter that Danica Patrick will indeed be staying in the IndyCar Series next year with AGR.

Reports have been surfacing this past week, fueled by direct quotes from Danica herself, that the shake-up in the AGR management and corporate realigning had made the possibility of her staying with AGR more likely. Though the official details have not been released and the paperwork is apparently not yet signed, this is great news for the IndyCar Series, which simply could not afford to let Danica go to NASCAR.

Love her or hate her, Danica brings eyes to the Series, and she is the driver that most people outside of the IndyCar fraternity associate with it. Couple this with possible new team from de Ferran Racing, Fernandez Racing, and Highcroft Racing, and perhaps the goal of a sustainable 26-28 car grid in the near future isn’t quite so far off.

Now, if only these sponsors on all the cars would start to activate and put their drivers’ images out in front of the public — but one step at a time.
