Top 12 Moments of 2011 calendar to benefit Japan earthquake victims

The abject devastation of the earthquake and tsunami that took place in Japan a little over a year ago is well-known.

That Japan is a hotbed of passion for open-wheel racing is also common knowledge.

These two worlds have come together through an amazing project spearheaded by Japanese publication US-RACING.

Editor Kazuki Saito and his brother, photographer Hiroyuki Saito, grew up in Tagajo city in Miyagi Prefecture, and the tsunami struck within half a mile of their family home. In response, the brothers have created a 2012 calendar titled Top 12 Moments of the 2011 IndyCar Series Season using some spectacular images from Hiroyuki’s portfolio.

Sales of the calendar will be used to support recovery in the areas of Japan affected by the earthquake and tsunami that took place on March 11, 2011.

The Saito brothers would no doubt deeply appreciate the support of the American racing community in both supporting their country at its time of need and sharing their love of INDYCAR racing.

The calendar is priced at 980 yen (approximately $12 US; shipping varies) and may be purchased by visiting this website:
