Team: Team Penske
Position: Transportation
Total 500s participated in: 27
At-track duties: Tire guy for the No. 3 Shell V-Power Pennzoil-Ultra Dallara/Honda, driver of Roger Penske’s Office/Trailer, and back-up fueler and air jack for the pit crew.
Away-from-track duties: Wheels, Roger’s trailer and transportation.
Favorite part of the Month of May: Pole Day/going for the pole.
Most challenging part of the Month of May: Winning the race. The competition is tough, and a lot can happen in 500 miles.
Favorite 500 memory: Being the air jack/vent man during Danny Sullivan’s 1985 Spin and Win.
Favorite way to spend a day off after Indy: Fishing a quarry (it’s a secret spot).
What participating in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing means to you: I started working in racing when I was just 22 years old. I was green as green can be, fresh out of the US Navy. My first year at Indy, I was working on Bobby Unser’s car. We won that race, and I have been hooked on racing ever since. It is the best feeling ever to help win the 500 for Roger Penske.
