The IZOD IndyCar Series announced its mostly final schedule for the 2011 season today at the Milwaukee Mile. Highlights include a return to the Milwaukee Mile, new races at New Hampshire and Baltimore, and the 95th Indianapolis 500 on May 29, 2011.

The first hints that what we thought we knew of the 2011 schedule was going off the rails came while chatting with Randy Bernard on the Mid-Ohio race weekend. We learned that imminent announcements of 2011 NASCAR dates at that time were having a greater impact on the plans of the IZOD IndyCar Series than expected. With many of those announcements having now taken place, things appear to be back on track.
As the speculation surrounding the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series schedule continues at full speed, the latest round of rumors to surface comes courtesy of the new best friend of the Series, Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI), and its mega promoter, Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage.
