Could we have asked for a better season opener? Yesterday’s track issues were sorted out perfectly (with thanks due to Tony Cotman and the team at NZR Consulting), and the IZOD IndyCar Series responded by offering up drama in spades — albeit with a bit of help from Mother Nature.
All right. Let’s dive into an offshoot topic from yesterday’s post. The overall question: why aren’t we more invested in the drivers these days? A lack of meaningful rivalries was one of the first things that came to mind.
Ryan Briscoe enters the weekend in third place in the championship standings, a mere eight points behind leader Scott Dixon. Ryan has had a spectacular second half of the season and, in my opinion, should be considered the favorite to leave Miami with the title in hand.
