As the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series takes a week off after the first quarter of play, things in the Series are pretty much where most people expected them to be following the first block of road and street courses on the schedule.

Could we have asked for a better season opener? Yesterday’s track issues were sorted out perfectly (with thanks due to Tony Cotman and the team at NZR Consulting), and the IZOD IndyCar Series responded by offering up drama in spades — albeit with a bit of help from Mother Nature.
As the IZOD IndyCar Series takes to the track for this week’s test, contracts are being finalized and this season’s field is beginning to take form. And now, more than ever, the cries of desperation are rising from the stands: where are all the American drivers?
