Homestead: My visit to the surface of the Sun

Homestead: My visit to the surface of the Sun

I decided on the spur of the moment to go to the IRL finale. To my surprise, Homestead-Miami Speedway had been moved to the surface of the sun.

2009 championship preview: Ryan Briscoe

Ryan Briscoe enters the weekend in third place in the championship standings, a mere eight points behind leader Scott Dixon. Ryan has had a spectacular second half of the season and, in my opinion, should be considered the favorite to leave Miami with the title in hand.

2009 championship preview: Dario Franchitti

Dario Franchitti comes to Homestead in second place in the championship, five points behind Scott Dixon and as the least talked about member of the triumvirate with an opportunity to win the championship.

2009 championship preview: Scott Dixon

Scott Dixon enters the season finale with a five-point lead over Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Dario Franchitti and an eight-point lead over Team Penske driver Ryan Briscoe. His job is simple — win the race.

Terry Angstadt addresses media at Chicagoland

Following the Indy Lights qualifying this afternoon, news broke that an IndyCar owners’ meeting was being held at Chicagoland Speedway to address the future of the IndyCar Series. Breathe a bit easier, fans: Danica is staying

News is starting to leak from Curt Cavin via Twitter that Danica Patrick will indeed be staying in the IndyCar Series next year with AGR.

Costly crash

The practice accident involving Nelson Philippe, Will Power and E.J. Viso has cost the series two competitors for this weekend and possibly the rest of the season. Viso is fine and should race tomorrow, but Philippe and Power are both out for an undetermined amount of time.

Initial thoughts on the 2010 IndyCar schedule

My initial thoughts are quite mixed. It’s nice that the League has put the schedule out this early, and it’s good that there actually seems to be a market for IndyCar races these days. However, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed in the announcement of two ovals being lost and two road courses being added.
