CIS: Rick Mears

Centennial Interview Series, Interviews, Podcasts — By on May 25, 2011 11:27 am

Our final Centennial Interview Series feature profiles the driver to most recently join the four-time winners club, Rick Mears. Unfortunately, Rick’s time with us was brief, but the details that he was able to share about his career at Indianapolis were excellent. He started by explaining how his career led to him driving at the Speedway, and he then talked through his memories of his four wins. He also shared his thoughts on why he was such a good qualifier at IMS and discussed some of the races that got away. Rick talked about the thought process that led to his retirement and shared his favorite memory and greatest disappointment from his career at Indianapolis. Finally, he shared what being a four-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 means to him — and the humility with which he does so despite being a four-time winner himself says more about him as a person than his words ever could.
