ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Nov. 20, 2013 – Green Savoree St. Petersburg LLC (GSSP) announced today it will join forces with Firestone for the opening race of the 2014 IndyCar Series season – the newly-titled Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations and GSSP, the promoter of the downtown waterfront event, entered a multi-year agreement as entitlement sponsor, beginning with the race on March 28-30, 2014.

“Firestone has been a first-rate sponsor of our event for the past nine years, and we can only express gratitude for having a partner who understands the value of our event,” said Tim Ramsberger, President of the newly christened Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. “It speaks volumes about Firestone and what we have built with all of our partners in our wonderful community.”

General public tickets for the 2014 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg will go on sale Dec. 1. All tickets will be available online at gpstpete.com or by calling 877-283-5385.

“Motorsports is an integral part of the Firestone brand marketing efforts and the entitlement sponsorship of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg aligns perfectly with our plans,” said Lisa Boggs, Director of Bridgestone Americas Motorsports. “Our commitment to the race is a reflection of our longstanding relationship with Green Savoree and the terrific St. Petersburg community and fans. We are proud to have the Firestone name on this outstanding event.”

Firestone has been the Official Tire of the IndyCar Series since 2002 and is the only tire to compete in every event since the league’s formation in 1996. In addition to the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, which will celebrate its 10-year anniversary in March, Firestone also serves as the title sponsor for the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway.
