Indy 500 Winning Cars Exhibit

$Danny Sullivan\'s 1985 Miller American car from the \"Spin and Win\". Bobby Rahal\'s winning car from 1986 (#3) made Bobby my favorite driver growing up.$

$Johnny Rutherford\'s Pennzoil #4 won in 1980.$

$Starting with Buddy Lazier\'s 1996 winning car (at the very bottom) and progressing backwards all the way to Danny Sullivan\'s winning car in the very background$

$Al Unser Jr\'s winning car from 1994. This was the famous Penske PC-23/Mercedes 500I car that dominated the field and is remembered as one of the greatest exploits of the rulebook in the 100-year history of the 500.$

$The most recent winners... Arie Luyendyk\'s 1997 winning car (#5) all the way through Dario Franchitti\'s 2010 winner.$

$The car that started it all, the Marmon Wasp, winner of the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911. Mounted above the steering wheel is the world\'s very first rear-view mirror.$

$The 1970 winning car of Al Unser in the foreground with Mario Andretti\'s 1969 winner behind.$

$The #66 of Mark Donohue was the first of Roger Penske\'s 15 wins at Indianapolis as a car owner.$

$Johnnie Parsons drove the Wynn\'s Friction Proofing Special to a win in the rain-shortened 1950 500.$

$This car won back-to-back races in 1953 and 1954, the latter being my dad\'s first year at the race. The driver, Bill Vukovich, would be killed a year later while trying to win his third consecutive race.$

$Scotland\'s Jim Clark drove this Lotus to victory in 1965, the first for a rear-engine car.$

$Buddy Rice\'s winning car from 2004 was the last time a car other than Dallara won the 500, as of 2010. It was rain shortened when tornadoes touched down in the vicinity of the Speedway.$
